Mixed Dal Pakoda: Savory Teatime Snack Recipe

When there is a slight chill in the air, it is time to enjoy some hot spicy pakoras with a steaming cup of tea. Indians are blessed with varied savory and spicy snacks coming from different regions of the country. One such savory snack is Mixed Dal Pakoda, made with a batter combining masoor, moong, urad and chana dal for that unique but delicious taste.

It is an easy recipe and you can make it anytime since we have all these ingredients in the house, most of the time. All the moong dal pakora fans will love these to the bits. Make a nice masala chai, grab those mirchi ka achar and enjoy these savory mixed dal pakodas with your friends or family members.

Serves- 2-4



Ingredients

1/2 cup masoor dal
1/2 cup chana dal
1/2 cup yellow moong dal
1/2 cup urad dal
Water-as needed for soaking
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
3 green chillies
Salt- to taste
1/2 tsp asafoetida (Hing)
1-2 tbsp soaked moong dal (For texture)
Refined oil- for frying
Fried green chillies- to garnish
Onions rings- to garnish

You can even add greens like palak, methi or any of your favorite green leafy veges for making it more tasty or adding a variety!

Method


  1. In a bowl, mix masoor, chana, moong, urad dal and water.
  2. Soak and strain the mixed dal.
  3. Add ginger paste, red chilli powder, green chillies, salt and blend well.
  4. Add asafoetida(hing) and soaked moong dal and mix well.
  5. Heat refined oil in a pan.
  6. Make little balls from the batter and fry them till golden.
  7. Serve hot with fried green chilies and onions.

You can make these every evening, as afternoon tea snacks, for your kids or for special occasions. This easy pakoda recipe will save your time in the kitchen while giving you the yummiest snack. Serve it with tangy green chutney or sweet and sour tamarind chutney!
