WishTrend 5% Mandelic Acid Skin Prep Water Review

Hello, cuties!

Korean skincare is quite a major trend going on these days and I am one of the major followers of this trend. Since I started following the Korean beauty regime in last November, I have replaced every skin and hair care product that I was using with a Korean product and I am loving it. The results are extraordinary, plus you give time to yourself pampering your skin and hair, basically feeling good about yourself. So, today I am here with another product that probably can be my current favourite - By WishTrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water.

According to the Brand

The By Wishtrend Mandelic 5% Skin Prep Water is a hydrating and non-irritating exfoliant that can be used daily. Formulated with Mandelic Acid, it acts as an exfoliating treatment that improves the skin tone and texture while boosting the effectiveness of other products. The Mandelic Acid helps with pigmentation to improve the skin tone and texture. As a mild exfoliator that works on the surface of the skin, it is safe to use even for sensitive skin to avoid the use of harsh chemical exfoliation. Effective for acne due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial properties.

Recommended For
1) Sensitive skin type: Less irritation due to low skin permeability.
2) Dry skin: moisturizing effect.
3) Acne-prone skin: Anti-bacterial effect.

Cost
$22 or Rs.1550 for 120ml

I got it online from Beautybarn for about Rs. 1550. The prices are different on different websites, so it is your luck if you can get it at a cheaper price.

Ingredients

Water, Mandelic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Sorbitol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Citrate, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Natto Gum, Carbomer

How to Use

Using a cotton pad, gently wipe and pat the product on the face. After doing this, I take a little product on my palm and apply it directly on my skin patting it to absorb.

Packaging and Texture

It comes in a tinted bottle with a little opening. The tinted bottle helps in preventing oxidation of the mandelic acid as the ingredients in it can react with light and heat around. The packaging helps in taking out just the right amount of product on a cotton pad or your palm. The texture of the Mandelic acid prep water is very runny, almost like water, which helps it in getting absorbed into the skin perfectly. However, after application, as it dries out, it leaves a sticky film on your skin. This will last until you apply toner or another product on your skin. I will advise you to give it 5 minutes to get absorbed into the skin properly before following the next step.

Special Note

  • Please avoid using it with any other exfoliant in the same routine such as other AHA, BHA or Vitamin C. It will not harm your skin but it can be a bit harsh for your skin since all these are exfoliants. If you are using Vitamin C serum like me, you can do it on alternate days skipping Mandelic acid or use Vitamin C in morning or afternoon.
  • Use Mandelic Acid only at night. It exfoliates your skin leaving it exposed. If you step out in sun after using this, it might increase the sensitivity of your skin.
  • If you are allergic from nuts, better check it out with your doctor by doing a patch test before using this product.

My Take

For those who are not aware, Korean skin regime is all about not harming the skin or being harsh with it. Physical scrubbing is a major no-no in this regime which can damage your skin cells making it lose its tenacity and elasticity. Special emphasis is laid on gel based or chemical based exfoliants and peels. My last such exfoliant product was Innisfree Red Wine peeling jelly softener and it was amazing. Since I have acne prone sensitive skin, I wanted an exfoliant that can moisturise, kill bacteria and exfoliate, all at the same time. So after a long selection process and eyeing this product for quite some time, I thought of getting By WishTrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water.

Mandelic acid is derived from almonds, so it is very beneficial for the skin. It is hydrating and helps in reducing your acne. It has been about 15 days since I started using this and it has certainly helped in improving the texture of my skin. There were tiny bumps on my skin, and a few acne pop-ups, which have reduced significantly. I have been using it daily at night after double cleansing my skin and follow it with toner and rest of my 10 step night Korean skincare regime.

If you have sensitive skin, I will advise you to try this one instead of the physical exfoliators. It is rather gentle on your skin and helps in improving the texture and complexion. This is a great product for Exfoliating, Brightening, and reducing Pigmentation your skin without irritating it.
