Winter hair care easy tips for Indian women

It is time to enjoy a hot cup of brew while cuddling in a blanket. Yes, winters are here! Being one of my favorite times of the year, there is one thing I don’t like about this season. Winter season can be pretty bad for hair and skin, if you are not careful. Here is how you can keep your hair healthy in winters.

Deep conditioning is a must

Winters can make your hair dry and brittle. Avoid it by using a good leave in conditioner or deep conditioner after shampooing your hair. Matrix Biolage, Tresseme keratin smooth, Toni & Guy and Organic Surge are some good brands to try.

Massage with warm oil

Good old home remedy for Indian women, warm oil massage is a good way to retain moisture in your hair. You can use a concoction or just plain oil for moisturizing them. Coconut oil, almond oil and amla oil, Moroccan oil, Dove Elixir, Parachute hot oil therapy are must-tries.

Keep them covered

I get it, you love to let your hair down and enjoy the cold breeze of winter season. But it can damage your hair too. Cover your hair with a scarf or hat while stepping out. Static can cause frizzy hair leading to unwanted breakage.

Don’t wash them daily

Washing hair daily can rip them off the natural oils released by hair roots making them dry and brittle. In winters, wash your hair once or twice a week and not more, using a gentle protein shampoo.

Avoid styling tools

Using styling tools such as hair dryer, curling irons, straightners can damage your hair especially during winters. Avoid using them or use them keeping the heat sparingly. They can make your hair dry, brittle and frizzy. Try to use heat-protecting serum before using these tools.

Skip hair products with alcohol

Alcohol is known for its drying properties. If you have dry hair, it is better to avoid alcohol-based products. In winters, you need hair products with hydrating properties, it is wise to skip alcohol based ones.
