Revlon Matte Top Coat 494: Review & Swatches

Matte nails are quite in trend but finding our favorite nail polish color in matte is not as easy as it may seem. Apart from it, doing nail art with matte nail polishes is also tricky since they tend to dry very quickly. So for the matte look, I use matte top coats. Initially I had Essie Matte About You, then I used L'Oreal Matte Top Coat and now it is time to give Revlon Matte Top Coat a try!

Of all the matte top coats that I have tried, this one is the most affordable one with good quantity. I bought it along with 3 other matte nail polishes from the Revlon Summer MatteNess Collection

Cost

8ml for Rs. 190

The price and quantity is really affordable if other matte top coats or nail polishes polishes are considered. L'Oreal Matte top coat is available at Rs. 299 giving only 5ml.

Packaging

Packaging is pretty much same like other Revlon nail polishes but the glass bottle has a matte finish.

Application

Applicator brush is really gentle like other Revlon polishes. Applying top is easy too, gliding down the nails smoothly. You can get a matte finish in just one coat. However, I will advise you to use two coats for a smooth perfect matte look for your nails. Let it dry for about 20 seconds for that matte effect to turn out.

3-Free

Revlon Nail Enamel are DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free.

Final Verdict

  • Dries up pretty early.
  • Smooth matte finish comes up in about 10-20 seconds
  • Matte finish can last only for about 3-4 days.
  • Buff nails before applying for even look.
  • Do not leave the cap open otherwise it will dry up quickly.
  • Great for nail art and all the nail polishes.
  • Can smudge your nail art. It is best to apply a regular top coat to seal the nail art and then apply Revlon Matte Top Coat.
