Summer Skin Care Regime for Indian Girl

Summertime is one of the worst for the skin. It can make it oily, sticky and dry, changing throughout the day. You just cannot keep a track of how your skin will be and how to take care of that. Using cosmetics can also affect your skin significantly, blocking the pores and causing acne. It is crucial to take care of your skin using the right products for its sake. So I am sharing my summer skincare regime with all of you.

My skin care routine includes Korean skin care routine, using products that are loved by many and popular in Korea. These are made with gentle ingredients that are not harsh on the skin. They are also light and moisturising which is something you need in the summer to protect your skin from heat and dryness.

Products I love to include and can't miss in Morning Skincare routine

Cleansing oil

Cleansing oil may seem like an unnecessary product but it is a must-have for your skin care routine. I have been using The Face Shop Rice Water Brightening Rich Cleansing Oil. It is gentle and cleanses pores properly. Being washable with water, it does not clog up your pores. You can use it in the morning and evening to remove traces of sebum, dirt, sweat, and makeup or any product that might cause buildup.

Face Wash

The face wash is another necessity for us every day, however, you cannot use just any random face wash. Try to stick to the ones that do not have soap in them. They can make your skin feel dry ripping off the moisture. I use Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Clay foaming face wash. It is a foaming face wash which cleanses skin perfectly but does not make it dry.

Toner

Toner is an essential part as well since it helps in improving the texture of your skin. I will advise you to go with alcohol-free toners so that it moisturises and hydrates your skin instead of drying it out. My favourite one is Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Toner. It has very fewer ingredients in it and has almost no harsh chemicals. It has moisturising properties that help in improving skin texture and complexion.

Lotion

For the summer season, you need light yet moisturising lotion that hydrates your skin without clogging up the pores. My favourite is Innisfree Bija Trouble Lotion and Innisfree Green Tea Lotion EX. These are light yet soothing in nature for the skin. For the summer season, such lotions help in cooling the skin without making it seem heavy.

Sunscreen

You cannot miss sunscreen in summer if you want to avoid skin ageing and tanning. My favourite is Innisfree Daily UV Protection sunscreen with SPF 35++and Neutrogena Ultrasheer Dry-Touch Sunblock with SPF 50+. I will advise you to go with light formulas when it comes to sunscreen and which are sweat proof so that it does not clog up pores or get washed off in no time.

You can also try my Night skincare routine or Korean skincare routine modifying it according to the time of the day and time at your hand.

Here are some of the things which you need to do and avoid in the summer months for protecting your skin.

What not to do?

  • Don't rub your skin: We have a tendency to rub our skin with a handkerchief while wiping sweat or oil. This can damage your skin causing rashes. Your skin is very sensitive due to sweat and sebum production so be gentle on it.
  • Don't touch your skin: Your hands are breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria so touching the face again and again can transfer them to your skin causing it to break out.
  • Don't sleep with makeup: This will clog up your pores causing it to break out. So, clean it well, moisturise it before sleeping, no matter how tired you are.
  • Don't talk on the phone for long: Using the phone for long in summer causes breakouts, yes! The screen has a lot of bacteria on it and when it comes in touch with your skin, for long, it causes acne. Use headphones instead.
  • Avoid soap based products:

What to do?

  • Drink lots of Water: Even if you are not thirsty, drink water. You need to drink at least 3-4 litres of water every day to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated.
  • Use moisturising products: Avoid products with alcohol since it is known to dry your skin. Use products that have a light hydrating effect. If you have oily skin, go with serums and gel-based products.
  • Keep your skin clean: Make sure to clean your skin twice a day washing it with a gentle cleanser or a foam based cleanser. these will clean your skin properly without drying it out or ripping off natural oil.
