The Face Shop Calendula Essential Moisture Toner Review

Toning is very essential for the skin. It preps the skin for all the skincare products if you are into 10 step skincare as well as provide basic nourishment to the skin. I have a few favourite toners such as my all-time loved Dear Klairs Supple preparation toner, but I am always open to trying out new toners. I follow a double toning routine in which double layers of toners are added so having different toners can be helpful in getting multiple skincare benefits, especially if you do not like to spend money on essences. I recently got this The Face Shop Calendula Essential Moisture toner with The Face Shop Calendula Eye Cream after hearing about its soothing properties for sensitive acne-prone skin. Check out my review on this.

Packaging & Texture

I really love the packaging of Calendula essential moisture toner. It comes in a sleek cardboard box with the glass bottle inside. The outer case contains all the information about the product so read it before you throw it away since the bottle contains very less info. The glass bottle is matted with very retro 60s-70s style with a matte gold cap. It has a small opening which is designed in such a way that very little product comes out so you have to shake the bottle every time to take out the product.

The toner is tinted milk-ish colour with yellowish tint in it, sort of creamy shade. It is runny so you have to be careful while using it. There is a faint herbal medicine kind floral scent which I like in it. The texture allows it to be absorbed into the skin easily.

How to Use

To use it, take saturate the cotton pad with the product and swipe it all over the skin after cleansing.
I do two-step toning so after swiping my face and neck with the product and after this, I take some in the palm of my hand and apply it in dabbing motion all over the face and neck.

My Take

The Face Shop Calendula essential moisture toner is designed for sensitive skin and since I have sensitive acne-prone skin, I thought of giving it a try. I use this toner twice a day right after double cleansing in a double toning method. This toner is milky in colour with a slight yellow tint. You need a very little amount of it on your face and neck for that moisturised look. If you have oily skin, this is certainly not for you as it will make it look sticky and oily.

It mentioned being suitable for acne skin and acne scars, but after using it for about a month, I have not yet seen any effects on acne or let alone scars. It just reduces redness to a slight extent. If you are looking for miraculous acne scar vanishing effect, try some other product.

After going through the ingredients I realised that it contains alcohol. I generally don't like alcohol in my toners as it reduces its moisturisation. But it is very moisturising, surprisingly. I have acne-prone sensitive skin and this toner stings a little on the application which reduces as it seeps into the skin. It has helped in reducing redness around my sensitive skin area, around pimples. I love the packaging but the glass bottle makes it difficult to carry it around.  Being a glass bottle it is not very safe to carry around, to be frank. I am sort of clumsy, and whenever I pick up the bottle I am worried that I will drop it. Overall, it is a good product for basic toning.
